Switching guide · from Houzz Pro

Switching from Houzz Pro to BuildX, in a weekend.

Self-serve import steps for contacts, jobs, and history. No sales calls, no migration fees, no downtime mid-season.

Step 1: Export what you own

Export customers, vendors, open jobs, and price lists from Houzz Pro to spreadsheets. Everything you entered is yours; take it all.

Save plan sets, contracts, and closeout documents to a folder per job. You will reattach the live ones in step 3.

Step 2: Import in this order

Contacts first, so jobs have customers to attach to. Then cost database rates and assemblies, so estimates price right from day one.

Open jobs next with current budget and schedule status, not full history. History follows once the crew trusts the new numbers.

Step 3: Cut over one job

Run one active job fully in BuildX: daily logs, portal link to the customer, invoices from budget lines. Prove it where the stakes are real but contained.

Then move the rest. Most shops finish the overlap in two to four weeks and wonder why they waited.

Questions shops ask

Do I need to talk to sales to migrate?

No. Every step above is self-serve. If you want help, the help center and contact page reach working humans.

What happens to my history?

Closed-job records import as reference files attached to customers, so the story stays searchable without polluting live budgets.
