The steps, in order

Choose certified (statewide) or registered (local). Certified costs more up front and works everywhere; registered is cheaper but county-bound.

Document experience: four years for certified GC, with education substituting for part of it. Pass the business and trade exams.

Carry the required liability and workers comp, post financial responsibility proof, and activate through DBPR.

Once licensed, get found

Display your DBPR number on a verified BuildX Contractor ID profile so Florida customers can check you in one tap.
